Catherine Shinners

Catherine Shinners has extensive experience in bringing Web technologies to market. In her management, marketing and business development positions at Tandem and Compaq Computer, she led Web 1.0 infrastructure product programs to bring scalable, reliable solutions the global financial services and communications service provider markets. Those product and market development initiatives included, high end messaging solutions, public key infrastructure solutions for general applications, trusted third party certificate authority solutions, secure Internet consumer payments, and extending customer care and service to the Web.

Through that work Catherine frequently managed technology and market partnerships with early stage companies. Most recently, for WebEx Communications, a leading provider of real-time communication and collaboration services using a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, Catherine focused on integrations and partner strategies to extend WebEx collaboration solutions value, such as an integration of WebEx meeting services into MS SharePoint.

Catherine has led multiple cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary teams throughout her career; including her current work in enabling high-performance virtual teams through on-demand Web 2.0 collaboration solutions as these technologies move towards the evolution of the Semantic Web. She received a degree in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin and contributed to the university's implementation of one of the first campus-wide local area networks in the USA.
